I Love This!
I love this!
You might have said those words out loud. Or, you might have said or thought this:
I hate this!
Swap the word ‘this’ for anything you were doing when you had the thought. Let’s backtrack one word. Love and hate are words of emotion. Our emotions and feelings make us different from machines and other animals.
Sure, your dog shows that they like you by wagging a tail. Your cat likes purring and sitting on your lap.
Humans show emotions without having to wag a tail, though. We can smile, frown, cry, clap our hands, and jump for joy. The list is pretty long, but what happens before we do any of those?
Our brains get our emotions running. Emotions are powerful. Love and hate are the two strongest. How do emotions link with practice and learning?
You’re more likely to learn and remember if you love what you’re doing. It’s like your brain opens all sorts of doorways to let the learning in. Your practice becomes easier. And the easier it becomes, the more you’ll remember. The more you remember, the more your brain wants you to learn extra stuff.
And guess what? You won't remember as much if you’re not in love with what you’re doing. Have you ever tried speaking to an angry person? It’s hard to get through to them, right?
