The Books of Neven
Twelve-year-old Archer Price is on a mission to find his grandad, who disappeared 30 years ago. Archer is convinced Nan's attic has answers. However, Archer's twin sister, Mimi, is more interested in soccer than solving family mysteries.
They stumble upon a strange cube that takes them to Neven, an ancient medieval kingdom. Reluctantly, they team up with Toby, a street kid and dog poo collector, hoping he can protect them from Neven's angry King Francas, a sinister wizard, and a dungeon straight out of a bad video game.
Archer wants to find Grandad. Mimi wants to make it home in time for kickoff.

Chapter Bite
Neven’s best builders used Neven’s best timber and stone to construct a square-shaped castle. They built it on high ground (called hills) in a bend of the Kurs River. The river protected three sides of the square.
Attacking the castle from the river was dangerous. The river’s current was strong, thanks to a waterfall two miles downstream. Plus …
The castle had catapults that launched heavy rocks. The soldiers firing them hardly ever missed. The rocks punched holes large enough to sink boats. That is if the waterfall didn’t get them first.
The walls were too high to climb and too thick to tunnel under.
The dungeon–a place of disgusting smells, creepy sounds, and rats – lots of rats
Don’t pack the suitcase. These are the places not to visit in Neven.
The oubliette (oo-blee-ett), a deep, dark hole. The worst dungeon prisoners get to live at the bottom
Wendolax Forest–where the humans are more dangerous than the animals
Who’s Who …
Toby–Neven street kid and dog poo collector
Archer Price–his brain gets him into trouble (and out of it)
Mimi Price–she juggles and plays soccer (not at the same time)
King Francas–the bad guy
Merry Christmas, kids!
