Canon in D

This is the musical notation of Canon in D

The human brain responds to music in many different ways. It always evokes an emotion. This is because music is an art form. We look at art with an emotional eye. And not all of us look at art the same way.

The same is true of music. What floats one person’s boat sinks another’s. Spoiler alert here: the remainder of this post is about classical music. We’re talking about the best genre of music to enhance learning and memory. Classical music is right up there with the best. It is the best.

The folks in your home may not listen to it. You may not listen to it. If you don’t, you most likely have several emotional reasons why you don’t. As a kid, I remember asking my dad to change stations on the radio because it was playing classical music.

When he asked why, I told him I didn’t like it. It was an emotional response.

As an adult with a lifetime’s (up to now) experience of many musical styles, classical music sits comfortably in my listening repertoire. It’s not my go-to, but if I need to de-stress, then it is. Why?

The forms of classical music produce particular brain waves that reduce anxiety and stress.
