Rainy Days

This is an image of children reading.

School holidays have begun in Australia. Our spring vacation is two weeks. Then, we face the hottest school term of the year. Most of Australia is hot. Some places swelter.

Australia’s northern tropics are not only hot but also wet. Rain falls in sheets, not drops. The humidity is stifling, described to me once as feeling like “walking around the bottom of a fish tank.”

Rinsing off sweat with a swim or shower is fine until the friction of the towel on your skin is enough to cause more to break out.

Study for your children may or may not be on the agenda. If you are in Australia, it’s probably off the menu.

I hope you have identified a constant theme through the recent blog posts. That is, our brains are activated by music. Music in the background while working (or playing) is excellent for creativity or forming new memories.

Rainy days with kids on school holidays can be tedious, especially if no movies are worth watching. Kids will find their entertainment. Music can assist them. A playlist in the background can stimulate creative thoughts that can morph into hours of engaged activity.

Try it out!
