Still Playing

This is an image of an orchestra.

My music is still playing. Well, I started playing it again. It hasn’t been playing all the time since I last wrote to you. I had to turn it off because I was doing other things. It’s hard to listen to music when the noise from the lawn mower drowns it out.

Some people drop off to sleep more quickly if music plays in the background. Have you ever wondered why many shops play music?

Listen for it next time you’re in one. Classical music is unlikely in a trendy fashion shop. The music will be something that fits with the theme of the place. Supermarkets used to play calm, slow music. Why? The idea was to keep you in the building for longer. The longer you stayed, the more money you were likely to spend.

Today, they’ve changed, and they play more popular music. The goal is still the same, though. They want you to stay in the store and spend money.

Don’t forget music helps brain chemicals do their work. Music makes us feel good. If we feel good, we’re going to make better choices.

Better choices will make us feel good about ourselves. Feeling good about ourselves helps us learn. Learning brings in a full circle back to–

You knew this was going to turn into a school thing, right? That’s what I do–school stuff.
